“Motivational interviewing is a particular way of talking with people about change and growth to strengthen their own motivation and commitment”

Miller & Rollnick, 2023

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a powerful communication style and counseling approach that empowers individuals to explore and resolve ambivalence. Originally developed in the field of addiction counseling, MI has evolved to become an indispensable tool for coaches, therapists, healthcare professionals, and educators worldwide.

MI is a skills based intervention that aims to support self-efficacy and increase confidence in your clients to bring about significant cognitive or behavioural change. A person centred, evidenced based way of building on existing strengths supporting clients to positively grow and change.

At its core, MI recognizes that sustainable change comes from within. Rather than imposing advice or solutions, MI practitioners facilitate a collaborative partnership with clients, guiding them to discover their intrinsic motivations and resolve conflicting feelings about change.
